Worth County Board approves routine business, sets FY27 budget hearing

Stone moved, and Chairperson Enos Loberg seconded, approval of the county’s 2026 spray services bid from TBB Spraying for $17,350; the motion carried with Supervisor Mark Smeby recorded as abstaining. The other bidder was B & W Control Specialists, Inc., at $22,450; bid documents are available for review in the auditor’s office.
Supervisor Mark Smeby moved, seconded by Supervisor A.J. Stone, to approve a work order for Drainage District #72 submitted by Steven Rachut; the motion carried. The board also approved claims totaling $9,985.64 (including $8,457.21 to Alliant Energy and $1,490.16 to Black Hills Energy) by motion of Supervisor Mark Smeby, seconded by Supervisor A.J. Stone.
The board approved a Class C retail alcohol license renewal for Diamond Jo Worth LLC (doing business as Diamond Jo Worth Casino) on motion of Supervisor A.J. Stone, seconded by Supervisor Mark Smeby. The board also set the FY2027 proposed budget public hearing for April 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. on a motion by Supervisor A.J. Stone, seconded by Supervisor Mark Smeby.
There was no extended discussion recorded on these items; each motion was recorded as carried in the minutes. The meeting recessed for the Fir Avenue public hearing later in the session and adjourned at 9:06 a.m.
