WSBA launches Rule of Law Ambassador program to counter misinformation and support judges

The Washington State Bar Association described a rapidly expanding Rule of Law Ambassador program launched on Law Day 2025 to train lawyers to defend the judiciary, counter misinformation and provide civic outreach in communities across the state.
"This excellent program is now underway...the response has also been exciting as well as overwhelming," WSBA President Frances Adewale told the court, saying early events in Chelan and Clark counties were "packed" and that the program’s focus is to promote confidence in the rule of law and discourage threats against judges.
Sarah Nagalski, WSBA chief communications and outreach officer, said the program has included webinars, community events and partnerships with local bar associations and that national partners including the American Bar Association and academic research groups are collaborating on a research cohort to develop solutions against misinformation. "We kicked off on Monday. We had about 2,000 lawyers in 13 different sites," Nagalski said.
The initiative includes training modules, local panels, classroom outreach and a planned cohort of "Ambassadors" to lead community dialogues. WSBA said it is building practical resources for lawyers and judges to use in civic education and will publish schedules and materials on its website.
Court members expressed support and highlighted the program’s role in public education. The WSBA said it will continue expanding events, recruit volunteers for school and community outreach and provide regular updates to the court.
