The board read into the record that during closed session it voted to approve a settlement agreement for OAH case number 2025030419; President Rivas announced the action after the board returned to open session. Secretary minutes show the motion for the closed'session settlement was made by Mrs. Cobian and seconded by Mr. Peralta; the board recorded a 4'00 vote in favor.
On the public record, the board approved the official canvass of bond Measure ME, which staff said passed with 64% yes votes and authorizes $105 million for facility improvements. The board approved the canvass by motion (moved by Mr. Peralta; seconded by Mrs. Cobian). Staff explained next steps for Measure ME, including a resolution asking the county to establish a tax rate so the district can access funds and a probable three-issuance plan ($35 million per issuance), creation of a citizens'oversight committee and a bond capacity waiver application to the State Board of Education.
The board also approved two tentative agreements with the California School Employees Association (CSEA): Chapter 10 (classified employees) and Chapter 356 (Head Start/Child Development), along with required AB 1200 fiscal documentation. Motions to approve those agreements were made and seconded and recorded as carried.
Other routine actions included approval of the May 12, 2025 meeting minutes and the consent calendar. A supplemental comment during the meeting noted a web link to the adopted budget was not working for a commenter; staff later indicated the link issue had been corrected.
