Adelanto, Calif. — At its June 18 meeting the City of Adelanto Planning Commission confirmed an internal leadership change and a scheduling adjustment. Chair opened a discussion about changing meeting start times after a recent power outage and the need to schedule an emergency meeting; commissioners said a 3:30 p.m. start better accommodates staff, applicants and community members than an earlier morning slot.
The chair explained the time change originated as a practical measure to accommodate staff overtime and allow applicants and residents easier access. “So we moved that to 03:30,” the chair said, adding the 3:30 p.m. slot would allow applicants and residents to arrive earlier and return home at a reasonable hour. Commissioners voiced agreement that the later start would also improve in‑person attendance and virtual access.
Separately, commissioners nominated and confirmed Ricky as vice chair. The chair nominated Ricky, commissioners seconded and the chair announced the nomination received adequate affirmative votes to confirm Ricky as vice chair.
The commission also used the meeting to introduce newly appointed Commissioner Paul Casilla and to receive Parks & Recreation announcements about a June 21 community cleanup day and senior center hours.
