The West Orange Board of Education voted unanimously July 21 to adopt revisions to Policy 5460, the district’s high school graduation requirements. The motion was made by board member Mister Stevenson and seconded by Miss Vera; Miss Flowers recorded the roll-call vote with all members voting yes.
Board member Stevenson said the policy committee recommended adoption after working with high-school administration and the curriculum committee on items including accelerated math and a 6–7–8 rollout. The board took the vote after a scheduled second reading with no further public discussion.
The policy committee’s work, Stevenson said, was intended to align requirements with the district’s curriculum goals and the superintendent’s vision for the schools. The board did not add amendments during the July 21 meeting.
The adoption was completed by roll call and will be entered into the district’s policy manual. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2025, at West Orange High School; no executive session is planned after the July 21 meeting.
