Lafayette approves $1.9M concrete rehabilitation contract, votes unanimously on consent items

At the March 17 meeting the council approved the city’s annual concrete rehabilitation contract and several consent-agenda items.
"We have approximately 118 miles of roadway, equaling a total network valuation of about $117,000,000," said Casey Carlson, senior civil engineer, describing the pavement-management approach, the 2026 mill-and-overlay map and the required ADA (PROWAG) ramp upgrades that often accompany overlays.
Staff explained the city's process for selecting streets using a pavement condition index and described planned 2026 work—mill/overlay, crack sealing and patching—under a $5.6 million program. The concrete rehabilitation contract bid by Lightfield Enterprises Inc. was presented for council approval.
Council moved and seconded the contract award and, after procedural clarification by the city attorney, the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff and the chosen contractor will schedule the work and coordinate public notifications, ADA upgrades and any required traffic-control measures during construction.
