Wayne Township school board highlights student achievements, approves agenda and moves to executive session

Superintendent Citadino opened the administrative report and introduced student representatives Zach (Wayne Hills) and Caitlin (Wayne Valley). Caitlin summarized Wayne Valley activities including a club fair on Sept. 26, DECA fundraising, senior sunrise, National Honor Society inductions and an upcoming fall show and band competitions. Zach reported 389 students participating in fall athletics, strong team records, a Tech Girls program finalist and a Paint‑a‑Parking‑Spot fundraiser that raised $4,550 for school events and scholarships.
Citadino also noted calendar revisions to be voted on (including adding the word "Christmas" to a Feb. 25/26 calendar entry and cleaning weekend entries from the public calendar) and said two minimal days were added following negotiation with the WEA and the district’s memorandum of agreement.
The board recognized student athletic achievements at regional and national competitions and thanked donors: John F. Kennedy Elementary donated $220 for kindergarten field trips and the Anthony Wayne PTO donated five picnic tables valued at $5,976.72 to Anthony Wayne Middle School. The board also acknowledged retirees Margaret Joyce Forbes (transportation), Jenny Bogdan (paraprofessional, Ryerson) and Nabhan Elsamara (head custodian, Skyler Colfax Middle School) and offered thanks for their service.
Procedurally, the board moved into executive session to discuss "2 personnel matters and a legal matter," with the chair estimating a 30–35 minute recess and saying possible action could follow reconvening. After returning from executive session the board approved the full agenda by motion; the chair announced, "Motion carries." The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
What happens next: The board will continue any personnel or legal deliberations in executive session; calendar revisions and other agenda items are subject to follow‑up as noted on future board agendas.
