Hawthorne council adopts water-rate ordinance and introduces bond, pool‑repair measures

Hawthorne Borough’s governing body adopted Ordinance 23‑75‑25, which revises the borough code section governing water rates, after a public hearing in which no members of the public spoke.

The measure was moved, seconded and adopted by roll call during the meeting. The council also introduced Ordinance 23‑77, a water‑utility bond ordinance that appropriates $860,000 to fund water main replacements and loop a main through Christian Healthcare Center, and Ordinance 23‑78, a $100,000 capital appropriation to renovate pool restrooms. Both were passed on first reading and are scheduled for final consideration at the borough meeting on Dec. 3, 2025; the clerk is authorized to publish required notices before that hearing.

Council discussion on the pool restroom work emphasized safety and code compliance. As described to the council, renovations will remove existing fixtures and walls, expose fittings so breaks can be isolated, install new stalls and lighting, and bring fixtures into ADA compliance.
