Carlsbad subcommittee hears state and federal legislative updates; HUD technical assistance suggested for Windsor Point

Salome Tash, a representative from Congressman Levin’s office, told the Carlsbad City Council Legislative Subcommittee that Congress returned to Washington with less than three weeks before the federal fiscal year ends on Sept. 30 and that lawmakers will likely pass a continuing resolution to keep the government funded. She said House Speaker Mike Johnson’s proposed CR would attach the SAVE Act provision requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration, a proposal Senate Democrats have said they will oppose. "This will likely come in the form of a continuing resolution," Tash said, adding the chambers remained at odds over provisions the House plan would include.
