Staff also confirmed clearing and tree removal had been completed to prepare the site and said trees would be planted 20 feet away from the new fence so mowing and maintenance remain possible.
“B and B is the low bid at $40,200,” a staff member told the board and recommended awarding the contract out of the appropriate county fund. Commissioners discussed bid consistency and whether the low bid covered the same scope as higher bids; staff and the contractor representative confirmed the same gates and scope were included.
Commissioner Ellington moved to award the contract to B & B for $40,200; another commissioner seconded and the motion carried.
The board directed staff to confirm start dates with the contractor; staff said work should begin in the last week of the month. The contract is intended to improve animal shelter security and to provide privacy screening requested by the sheriff.
