He said WSP (the prior engineering firm) had been difficult to reach and that Burns & McDonnell had indicated availability to provide Phase 2 CQA services. Commissioners discussed terminating the county’s agreement with WSP and the mechanics of transferring CQA responsibility to a new consultant.
Dan Slater, the county attorney, recommended a conditional approval tied to attorney review of the final contract language; the motion that passed directed staff to sign a final agreement only after legal review and to notify the outgoing firm as necessary. While the immediate CQA work was quoted at $17,000, commissioners noted there may be additional invoices tied to earlier phases that need reconciliation.
The motion passed unanimously. Staff will return with finalized contract language and will send a termination letter to WSP if the board authorizes it after review.
