Commission approves proclamation, equipment purchase and adds bank signer; tables garbage-rate change
Summary

Proclamation: The board unanimously adopted a proclamation honoring Milton “Wade” Coleman for long service to Cusseta and Chattahoochee County, noting his earlier service as Cusseta mayor and as a county commissioner. Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved to approve the proclamation, Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Procurement: The commission authorized purchase of a batwing tractor using TSPLOST funds, selecting the lower Carson Bros quote. A vendor proposal for a 2023 New Holland Workmaster 95 at $40,681 appeared in the meeting documents. Commissioner Biddle moved to accept the Carson Bros quote; Commissioner Douglas seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Bank signer: The board adopted a resolution adding County Manager Thomas Weaver as an authorized signer on the Unified Government’s Ozark Bank accounts; the resolution was approved by unanimous vote.
Garbage rates: Faced with incomplete cost information for commercial trash and an outstanding question about bringing collection in-house, the commission unanimously voted to table consideration of a garbage-rate increase and directed staff to research costs and options.
Executive session: The board entered executive session on May 6 to discuss legal and personnel matters allowed under Georgia law; an affidavit records the session began at 9:35 a.m. and that minutes would be held for in-camera inspection.
