The commissioners approved minutes and vouchers, adopted Resolution No. 2026-07 (NW KS Small Solid Waste Annual Review), authorized a KDHE grant application for public health, granted a 3% raise to the Recycling/Landfill Supervisor and approved staff raises generally while deferring the EMS director raise.
At its March 2 meeting the Rawlins County Board of Commissioners completed a set of routine administrative actions.
Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to approve minutes from Feb. 17 and Feb. 24, 2026, and Commissioner Alan A. Solko moved to approve the February 2026 vouchers; both motions were seconded and recorded as carried. The board approved Resolution No. 2026-07, the NW Kansas Small Solid Waste Annual Review, by motion.
Maintenance Director Stacey Mentlick discussed a Cummins quote to replace the radiator cap on the courthouse generator; commissioners directed Mentlick to purchase and replace the cap. Mentlick also said Noxious Weed Director Caleb Kastens will spray around the courthouse.
Commissioner Solko moved to approve and sign the KDHE Grant Application for Aid to Local and/or MIECHV for the Rawlins County Public Health Department; Commissioner Pochop seconded and the motion carried.
On compensation, Commissioner Solko moved to give Recycling/Landfill Supervisor Corey Castens a 3% raise for 2026; Commissioner Pochop seconded and the motion carried. Commissioner Pochop then moved to approve 2026 raises generally, excluding the EMS Director which will be discussed at the next meeting; the motion was seconded and carried.
The commission moved the April 15, 2026 meeting to April 14, 2026 so county departments can attend the Mini KAC in Colby. The board adjourned at 11:19 a.m.
