The contractor said paving and final restoration were delayed when District 33 requested a one-week pause at the start of school, and the contractor’s paving crew was then unavailable the following week, shifting the completion date to Sept. 12.
"...they had requested us to delay the construction for a week, which actually put us behind two more weeks... So now the completion date is extended to September 12," the presenter said.
Council members asked whether the contract had already been approved; staff confirmed the agreement had been previously authorized and that remaining work included paving, striping and final restoration. The disbursement motion was made and seconded and passed by roll call.
Vote: The roll call recorded multiple 'Aye' votes from aldermen present and the chair declared the motion carried.
Next steps: Staff will continue to monitor project punch-list items and county paperwork processing; the contractor will complete paving and restoration by the revised Sept. 12 date.
