Councilmembers on April 2 agreed to table a proposed nuisance/noise ordinance (item 9) after hearing that Planning & Zoning discussion had focused on residential examples and that the sponsor intended the draft to target commercial and industrial sources ahead of planned developments. The sponsoring council member said the intent was to address commercial noise from future restaurants and developments; council asked staff to revise the draft to clarify scope and to coordinate with the sponsor and P&Z before returning it to council.
Several council members cautioned about unintended consequences for farm animals and residential activities and said the town should avoid a one-size-fits-all approach that would prompt complaints over routine agricultural or domestic sounds. Staff and the council agreed to reconvene with P&Z and the sponsor to produce a revised ordinance and to bring it back when ready.
