Macomb to seek grants and use West Side TIF for Chandler Park design; $194,000 schematic work proposed

He said schematic design for Chandler Park is estimated at about $194,000 and that the full project, when escalated, might reach about $3,600,000.
Scott and other council members emphasized that the master plan’s overall park layout would not change in a major way but that design work is needed for elements such as a performance space and shelters. Alderman Katz said finishing design before submitting grant applications is essential to be competitive.
The committee discussed public outreach and agreed to continue the matter to the next city council meeting so the council can consider authorizing the contract; staff indicated the expense is TIF‑eligible and would be paid from the West Side TIF account.
If approved at the council meeting, staff said the goal would be to complete the design in time to apply for grants next summer.
