Antioch trustees on March 21 voted to approve the village site for a proposed Veterans Memorial while reserving final sign-off on the design and detailed site plan.
The board’s action followed extended public comment and a lengthy committee discussion. John Matadz, junior vice commander at VFW Post 4551, urged trustees to ratify the location that organizers and local veterans groups had used while fundraising, saying further delay risked losing donor momentum. “The time for protracted deliberations…has passed,” Matadz said in public comment, and he asked for a unanimous yes vote.
