Madison County’s secondary roads engineer Mike Hackett briefed supervisors on upcoming projects and staffing. He said work on a damaged handrail required a temporary road closure and that a separate work agreement will remove an existing driveway in advance of a planned bridge replacement on Peddington Park Road.
The board approved a temporary closure of Ironwood Trail effective Feb. 17 until further notice to allow the handrail repair. The board also approved a work agreement with Joseph Hite (effective Feb. 16, 2026) and accepted two hires: a full‑time motor grader operator and a full‑time working foreman for the drainage crew; motions were moved, seconded and passed by voice votes.
Hackett noted the department still has four equipment‑operator vacancies and urged local recruiting; he also described a roughly $1,000 grant used to install four low‑cost road‑condition cameras that feed staff pictures to better plan snow removal and call‑out decisions.
