Bill Kaufman, a business owner, used public comment to urge the council to advance an ordinance that would allow a dispensary at a location he said his business currently holds on Central Avenue.
Kaufman referenced Pomona's Catalyst dispensary and said that city saw substantial revenue from that operation; he estimated Montclair "could add literally over $1,000,000 in revenue to Montclair if we could get this ordinance through and get moving on it." Kaufman said he would follow up with the city manager for details on the ordinance.
The presiding official reminded Kaufman that council cannot respond during public comment and suggested he contact staff to learn the ordinance status.
Next steps: The mayor suggested Kaufman contact city staff for an update; no council action on the ordinance was taken during the meeting.
