Courthouse committee agrees to gift narrow parcel to Shelbyville for Riverwalk access

County staff explained the parcel is the narrow ribbon the city historically mowed and landscaped but is technically not city property. "For the purpose of this letter request... is to officially transfer the [described strip] to the city," a county official said, adding the parcel does not include county parking or any county building space and should not affect current county operations.
Members agreed that if the commission approves the transfer, county legal staff and city officials will coordinate any necessary deed or memorandum and present it before the commission vote. The committee approved forwarding the gift to the commission by voice vote.
The committee did not take final action on the transfer; the county commission will make the decision at its next meeting.
