Auditor reports 2.1% turnout in special school election; board certifies results, approves claims and license renewal

Jackson County’s auditor reported to the Board of Supervisors on March 10 that turnout in the March 3 special election for the Mokoketa Community School District was 2.1 percent, and the board certified the results and authorized forwarding the official abstracts.
The auditor said Jackson County administered the election on behalf of Clinton and Dubuque counties; of 124 participating voters, 103 cast yes votes and 21 cast no votes on the physical‑plant and equipment levy. The board moved, seconded and authorized the auditors to sign and forward the abstracts to the school district and bond counsel.
The board also authorized issuance of warrants for a claims listing totaling $232,299.01. A board member noted roughly $80,000 in the claims list was a payment to a conservation contractor for excavation and finishing at the Bridgeport access project. The board approved the warrants.
Finally, the board renewed a Class C retail alcohol license with outdoor service for Kokoda Country Club (effective 03/06/2026 through 03/05/2027). All motions carried by voice vote.
The auditor said a post‑election audit was completed and the county will forward certified abstracts to the district as required.
