Valley County approves director signature limits, indigent reimbursements and a $1,500 U of I contribution

The Valley County Board of Commissioners approved new signature-authority limits for department directors and finalized several administrative items during a regularly scheduled meeting.
Chair said the board would update signature authorities after coming out of executive session and moved to approve the first indigent-service request; the motion carried. The chair also moved to approve a second indigent reimbursement for a cremation of up to $17.85, which the board approved.
The signature-authority updates included a $50,000 limit for the Road and Bridge director. "Director Dietrich with our Road and Bridge Department is requesting a $50,000 limit," Chair said, noting the size of contracts for culverts and similar work. Commissioner moved the approval and the board voted to grant the $50,000 authority through fiscal year 2027.
The board also approved a $20,000 signature limit for Recreation Director Dave Bingaman after Chair described the frequent need for equipment repairs and replacements. Later, Director Canada requested and the board approved a $25,000 signature limit for her area.
Chair asked that all signed forms be scanned into a central folder for records and annual review. "I would request these all be scanned in to a central folder somewhere so that we maintain all of these in a central file," Chair said; staff agreed to create a Laserfiche folder and set reminders.
Commissioners also approved a $1,500 claim for the University of Idaho on behalf of a county position. Commissioner moved approval of the U of I claim for $1,500; the motion was seconded and carried.
The board closed business by noting the jail inspection had passed with no required corrections and confirming scheduling details for upcoming meetings.
The board recorded the motions and votes during the meeting; all motions described above were moved, seconded and approved by the commissioners present.
