Brandon Ratliff told the commission that adjacent parcels already carry light‑industrial zoning and that the comprehensive plan calls for industrial use on the site. "I feel like industrial fits better there because there's light industrial that surrounds those parcels," Ratliff said.
Jim Anglesey, the city’s long‑range planner, said the property is designated industrial on the future land‑use map and staff concluded the proposed zoning change conforms with Pocatello City Code section 17.02.170(e) and that required notifications had been completed.
No public comments were received on the application. A commissioner moved to recommend approval, finding the application meets the standards for approval under the cited code section; the motion carried on the recorded vote.
Next steps: the recommendation will be forwarded per municipal procedure for final action or additional review as required by city ordinance.
