The director outlined two illustrative cost options developed during master planning: a four‑season shelter and related amenities that would push the total toward a little over $3,000,000; and a scaled alternative with an open‑air pavilion, restrooms and limited amenities estimated at roughly $1 million to $1.5 million. Staff said phasing the work and combining grant applications across multiple years are among the strategies under consideration. "That option, we believe would be roughly a little over 3,000,000," the director said of the full shelter option.
The director said the department hopes to have a more definitive plan of action by fall, contingent on grant award decisions and other funding sources. Commissioners asked for ballpark figures; the director reiterated cost ranges and emphasized the funding contingency. No formal commitment of local capital was taken at the meeting.
