The Willacy County Commissioners Court voted March 12 to award and execute a construction contract with ML Contracting for a CMP project at a total cost of $913,269.50, county staff said.
County staff told the court the project carries a $305,000 grant award from the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and that the county previously approved a local match from Gomesa funds. Staff said the selected base bid plus an Alternate 1 (additional restroom facilities and receptacles) produces the $913,269.50 total; the added alternate was identified as $159,269.50 in the presentation.
At the meeting a county staff presenter summarized bid history and funding and asked the court to authorize execution of the contract. “ML Construction was awarded, and this presentation is to execute this contract if the court awards for the total amount base bid plus alternate 1 for $913,269.50,” the presenter said.
A commissioner moved to approve the contract, a second was received, and the court voted in favor. The judge confirmed the action carried.
The staff presentation said the GLO grant and local match will fund the work; the item noted the local match will come from the county’s Gomesa/OMEA funds. The court did not discuss a revised project schedule or a construction start date on the record.
Next steps: staff will finalize contract documents with ML Contracting and proceed with procurement and execution as authorized by the court.
