Several routine items and compliance filings were addressed by the Steuben County Council on April 9.
Karen Brenneman of Pine Manor–Miller Poultry submitted CF‑1/PP compliance statements for four previously granted personal and real property abatements. Dan Caruso moved to approve all four CF‑1/PP filings; Ken Shelton seconded and the motion carried 7–0.
The council approved a $300 transfer from Board Compensation to Office Supplies after the Drainage Board’s request was read. It also approved a $32,923.37 appropriation for the inspection phase of Bike Trail Project Phase 2 using reimbursement funds from Bike Trail Phase I.
March meeting minutes and the March 31 Auditor/Treasurer monthly comparison report were approved. Treasurer Missy Bixler told council tax bills would be mailed the next day, with due dates of May 10 and Nov. 12, 2019; she reported successfully negotiating an online/phone payment fee reduction (from 4.95% to 2.5%) and is exploring a drive‑up drop box for payments.
Sheriff Rodney Robinson submitted a letter comparing local jail wages with surrounding counties; the letter is on file with the Auditor for council review.
Why it matters: These approvals keep routine county operations and grant projects on schedule and alert residents to tax‑bill timing and payment options.
What’s next: Standard follow‑ups (file CF‑1/PP documentation, proceed with bike‑trail inspection work, and Treasurer to finalize online payment and lockbox arrangements).
Provenance: Items appear in SEG 003–SEG 010.
