Aviation advisory board votes to prepare bylaw edits and forward them to county commissioners

At its March meeting, the Citrus County Aviation Advisory Board reviewed its bylaws and directed staff to prepare a formal set of edits for board review and referral to the Board of County Commissioners.
Members discussed three main items: whether to retain a requirement to advertise meetings in a general-circulation Citrus County newspaper despite online posting, whether officer elections should be held at the first meeting of the board's "term year" rather than in calendar January, and whether public commenters should be required to provide name and address in writing (many members favored keeping the sign-in for accurate spelling/contact). Recording secretary Hannah Petty confirmed a local paper still prints and is delivered to the office.
Todd Regan and staff suggested formatting bylaw language with bullet points rather than lettered subsections to simplify online agenda input and recommended adding an Oath of Office item and a segment for FAA/FDOT updates. Chair Heiko Kallenbach asked staff to draft the changes, circulate them to members, and present the edits for a vote at the next meeting.
The board moved to proceed with the proposed changes, the motion received a second and carried on voice vote. Staff will finalize the draft, circulate it to members and then forward the board's recommended changes to the Board of County Commissioners for their approval.
