The Forest Park SD 91 Board of Education voted March 12 to accept the recommended lowest responsible bid from Reed Construction LLC for construction of two science labs at Forest Park Middle School, with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $474,000.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Hubbard told the board the district received nine bids on March 6 and the architect recommended awarding the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. "We received 9 bids on March 6 ... they're recommending that we accept the lowest responsible bid ... for $474,000 not to exceed that," Dr. Hubbard said. He noted the "not to exceed" language accounts for optional alternatives that might be removed, lowering the cost.
Board members asked about timing and completion; Dr. Hubbard said the work "would be done over the summer." The motion to accept the bid was moved and seconded and approved by roll call.
What happens next: the administration will finalize contract details with Reed Construction LLC and proceed with summer construction and any selected alternatives.
