CPMT approves routine reports and funding for foster care and related services following closed session

The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team on Feb. 26 approved several routine items and funding actions.
Sheri Hale moved to approve minutes from the Jan. 29, 2026 meeting; Megan Goodie seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Hale also moved to approve the January Fiscal Year 2026 Financial Report (seconded by Michelle Brown) and the Jan. 31, 2026 Safe & Stable Funds report (seconded by Megan Goodie); both motions were adopted unanimously.
Later in the meeting, after entering a closed session to discuss individual foster-care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and school-related cases and associated funding, the CPMT returned to open session, certified the closed meeting under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (citing Code of Virginia §§2.2-3711 and 2.2-3712), and recorded a vote tally of AYES 7, NAYS 0, ABSENT 3.
Michelle Brown moved, with Whitley Wagner seconding, to approve funding to be provided for Foster Care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and Tazewell County Schools for services related to the cases discussed in closed session; the motion carried unanimously. Brown then moved (seconded by Wagner) to approve funding for Foster Care Maintenance Services not reviewed by FAPT; that motion also carried unanimously. The meeting minutes do not specify dollar amounts for any approved funding.
The CPMT reviewed (but did not vote on) the Tazewell County Medicaid Billings for FY2026 and an Office of Children's Services comparison report by service placement type for Buchanan, Russell and Tazewell counties, which CPMT members said they receive quarterly for planning and oversight. Members were reminded about upcoming training opportunities and community events. The meeting adjourned at 2:23 p.m.
