The Onalaska School District Board of Education on March 9 recognized student athletes who qualified for state competition.
Katie Jones, head coach of the high school gymnastics team, introduced Ally Tomperud, who qualified individually for the state meet. "She was our individual state qualifier," Jones said. Ally described meeting peers at state and called the experience "really exciting" and emphasized the opportunity to represent her school.
The board also recognized Maximus Todd, an individual qualifier for the WIAA Division I state wrestling tournament at 190 pounds. Maximus told the board that representing his team and setting an example for younger wrestlers were highlights of the trip.
Board members thanked the students and coach for attending and congratulated them on their achievements.
