The Chambersburg Area School District Board of Directors voted on routine business March 24, approving the consent agenda and accepting a PCCD grant intended to support mobile therapists and safety‑related items. Mr. Woodman described the PCCD application work and said roughly half of the grant funds will be used for mobile therapists and the other half for safety items.
Board members also completed first readings of several policies, including a policy addressing student and staff use of electronic communication devices. A high school administrator said the implementation will require a communication campaign to parents, students and staff and noted the district will coordinate similar enforcement across CASAS and CMS. A trustee asked for clarity on how the policy will be reflected in the student handbook and how confiscated phones will be handled operationally.
On a separate vote to approve minutes (item 7.01) two members announced they would abstain because of absence; the remainder approved the item by voice vote. Administration also noted other grant activity and encouraged trustees to request broader grant reporting in future agendas so the board can track teacher or foundation grants alongside recurring district awards.
