Board hears that COVID compensatory services are underused; district plans targeted outreach

At the March 18 agenda review, Director Yort read a question and the administration’s response about underuse of COVID compensatory services (CCS) funds.
"A recent report indicated that PPS has only spent one sixth of our COVID compensatory funds," Yort said, reading the administration’s response.
According to the response Yort read, "our CCS contracts allocate funding for summer programming on a per student enrollment basis. Program capacity has intentionally not been set at a 100% as our goal is to offer a variety of program options and maintain adequate space so families can choose the services that best meet their needs." The response added that the district contacted families this fall whose students have not used any CCS hours and is implementing "enhanced outreach for 130 students who have used less than 15% of the available CCS hours" to increase awareness and participation.
Director Yort thanked Dr. Camper and district staff for their outreach efforts. No board action or vote was taken; the discussion was recorded as part of the education agenda review.
