Butler County to hire engineering firm for Prague Highway milling and overlay plans

The Butler County Board of Supervisors voted March 16 to hire an engineering firm to develop plans for asphalt milling and overlay on Prague Highway (39 Road) from W Road to Y Road, moving the project closer to being put out to bid.
Highway Superintendent Randy Isham told the board the county’s portion of Prague Highway is in “significant need of repair” and needs engineering plans before the county solicits construction bids. Supervisor Brad Vandenberg moved the motion and Robert Coufal seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Isham provided a status update on county roadwork and said staff will use the engineering plans to determine project scope and cost estimates before returning to the board for authorization to bid. No construction contract was awarded at the meeting; the vote authorized only the preparation of design and bidding documents.
The board did not set a timeline for completing the plans at the March meeting; Isham will return with schedule and cost estimates once the firm is selected.
