Wichita County approves bills, authorizes Enterprise Fleet payment; treasury report tabled

Wichita County’s commissioners unanimously approved routine financial business March 24, including the five-item consent agenda and regular bills for payment, and authorized two payments to Enterprise Fleet after staff clarified how the charge was calculated.

During discussion of Enterprise Fleet Statement number 595182-020426, staff explained the line labeled “interim interest” reflected a price difference tied to a TIPs contract rather than conventional interest. “They're charging us the difference between their price and the tips,” Mister Davis said, describing the invoice discrepancy that produced $1,006.52 for a constable precinct vehicle and $103.62 for an elections vehicle, a combined total of $1,110.15. The county auditor will place the expenditures in service-fee lines rather than as fixed assets.

The court approved payment of the invoice after a motion and second; the motion carried unanimously. Earlier the court approved general business item 1 to verify payroll taxes had been filed and to authorize the treasurer to disburse payroll and bills within 72 hours. The court also agreed to postpone a scheduled presentation of the February 2026 Wichita County treasury report because Treasurer Stephen Jones had car trouble; the treasury report was tabled to the April 7 meeting.

Votes and formal actions recorded at the session included approval of the consent agenda and regular bills, authorization to pay Enterprise Fleet Statement #595182-020426 totaling $1,110.15, and tabling the treasury report until April 7. No further budgetary allocations or policy changes were adopted at the March 24 session.
