Kaylin Wornick, representing the Sanpete County Chamber of Commerce, told the council the chamber is launching an incubator program called "Square 1" in Ephraim using the old Granary Building adjacent to the Co-Op.
"We're making an incubator space for businesses to come when they're in their beginning stages ... kind of encourage them to go from maybe their garage or their house to Main Street," Wornick said, describing an education element developed with Snow College and the Small Business Development Center.
Wornick said the chamber recently received a grant that will help near-term startup operations and that the incubator will include flex space and a short-term-use WiFi area for entrepreneurs. She and council members discussed the Bishop Storehouse as a possible expansion location for rental office space in Manti; Wornick said she would help advocate and coordinate with county and state contacts if the council supported partnering.
The council thanked Wornick for the update and encouraged coordination with local officials and property owners to explore office-space options.
