The Town of Wayne Select Board voted March 17 to accept a $15,000 state housing opportunity grant to support updates to the town’s land-use ordinances.
Town manager Shannon told the board the award is the first round of funding; staff applied for $15,000 and said there will be two additional rounds for which the town may apply to a maximum of $10,000 in subsequent rounds. The funding is intended to help the town implement recently published housing-related legislation and offset legal and ordinance-drafting costs.
Board members supported accepting the grant. The item passed by voice vote with all votes recorded in favor. Staff will incorporate the grant into the warrant and follow any administrative steps required by the grant terms.
Next steps include coordinating with the planning board as it carries out public hearings on land-use ordinance revisions and ensuring any grant conditions are met before expending funds.
