The Hardin County board approved a resolution to establish an Emergency Medical Services System Advisory Council and completed several routine items at its Feb. 18, 2026 meeting.
The board voted to adopt Resolution 2026-09 to create the EMS advisory council. The Chair said the advisory council is a "step 2" following an initial meeting and described the group as a recommending body: "This committee would just bring whatever to us and then decisions are made by us," the Chair said. A motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded and the Chair called a roll call that included a recorded "Aye." The resolution was adopted.
The board also approved appointments and personnel actions. The board considered an appointment to the zoning commission; the Chair said the vacancy’s term expires in 2030 and that Heidi Young had been under consideration but two applicants were disqualified for living inside city limits. A motion was made to appoint West Ferris to the zoning commission to fill the term; the motion was seconded and carried.
Separately, the board accepted the resignation of Mark Lukey from a full-time correctional officer position, listed in the meeting record as effective Feb. 5, 2026 and described in the record with a rate of "23, 23." The board also acknowledged the county recorder’s report for January.
Other business included a hiring request for the conservation office; the Chair said the request will be placed on next week’s agenda for formal consideration.
