"We now have about $461,000 in our account, and we're looking to give the money away," the presiding trustee said, describing plans to send a mailer and email to all registered nonprofit organizations in the village explaining the commission and how to apply.
Officials said the village will accept applications through March 31 and anticipates meeting in April to review requests, with awards expected during the last week of April. The trustee said the funds come from a franchising fee account historically set aside for nonprofit distribution and emphasized the program is open to Oak Lawn 501(c)(3) organizations.
The trustee identified Steve Radice as the point of contact for applications and said the village will include instructions in an upcoming newsletter. Meeting materials referenced an email address for submissions; staff signaled they would publish the exact address and application materials on the village website and in written notices.
No formal vote or allocation was made at the Feb. 24 meeting; trustees announced the process and deadlines and asked nonprofits to submit proposals for consideration.
