Trustees approve $2,000 inspection and short-term HVAC fixes for village hall

Trustees voted unanimously on Feb. 18 to approve a $2,000 estimate to inspect ducts and make short-term HVAC improvements for the village hall administrative side.
Trustee DeAntley moved to accept the estimate; another trustee seconded the motion. "I'd like to make a motion that we accept the way you did to for $2,000 to further investigate the air heating and AC system," DeAntley said during the meeting.
Finance director Eugene Mann and trustees explained the proposal is intended to test lower-cost fixes — duct inspection, a fresh-air damper and handle, a combustion vent to the outside and a low return with a filter grill — before committing to costly spray-foam insulation, which Mann estimated could cost many thousands of dollars.
The board discussed potential complications of spray foam and the unknowns of removing existing insulation. Trustees agreed it was prudent to try the $2,000 work first. The motion passed by roll call, 5–0.
What happens next
The contractor will inspect ducts and perform the approved work; the village will evaluate the results before deciding whether to pursue spray-foam insulation or other larger investments.
