Summary
Council approved submission of six projects to the Northern Arizona Council of Governments 2027 Regional Priority Projects List on a 6-1 vote after Councilor Seybold voiced constituent opposition to the Montezuma Castle Highway multimodal project. Staff will resubmit previously advanced projects including Main Street reconstruction.
On March 18, 2026 the Camp Verde Town Council authorized staff to sign letters of support and submit six projects to the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) 2027 Regional Priority Projects List.
CIP Manager Martin Smith explained the regional project list and noted previously advanced projects such as Main Street reconstruction and the Montezuma Castle Highway multimodal improvements were on the resubmission list. Councilor Patricia Seybold raised concern that residents in the area currently do not support the Montezuma Castle Highway project. Councilor Robin Godwin moved to approve the submission and Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier seconded; the motion passed 6-1 with Seybold recorded as the lone nay.
The approval directs staff to resubmit the selected projects to NACOG for possible grant funding; specific grant applications and schedules were not finalized at the meeting.
