Summary
Representatives for the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Kane‑DuPage Soil & Water Conservation District reported increased food deliveries from recent state allocations, available refrigerated trucks for pickups, an upcoming tree‑planting at Geneva High School and a native plant sale that is selling out.
At the March 19 meeting the committee heard short updates from partner organizations.
A representative for the Northern Illinois Food Bank reported that recent state allocations have increased deliveries, including more chicken and pears, and said Marie Wilkinson operates two refrigerated trucks that can support pickups. The speaker said these allocations have been "very helpful" in expanding delivery capacity.
Kat, representing the Kane‑DuPage Soil & Water Conservation District, outlined several outreach programs: natural resource inventories, a farmer weatherization rebate, spring tree plantings (25 oak trees designated for Geneva High School), a returning mushroom workshop in October, and a native plant and tree sale that is selling out. Kat asked staff to circulate the finalized dates for spring plantings and for the committee to help publicize upcoming events.
Committee members thanked partner representatives and had no additional questions before moving on to the scheduled agenda items.
