Summary
The Arts Committee said a local billboard operator has agreed to show a student slideshow and the city will link to the gallery from the Middleton website and promote it in the Good Neighbor newsletter; staff aims for an April rollout pending formatting.
The Middleton Arts Committee heard an update March 19 that a local billboard operator has agreed to display student digital artwork and that the city will link the slideshow from its website and promote it in municipal channels.
JoLynn (speaker 2) reported that "Brett is willing to display the students' slideshow on the billboard on Airport Road, and he's also willing to link to it from the homepage of the city website, share it out in the Good Neighbor newsletter, put it on social media." Committee members discussed equitable access and the benefit of also posting an online gallery that instructors can link to so families can view the work off-site.
The committee agreed staff will meet with the teacher and the billboard operator to finalize formatting and technical requirements, with a target of having the slideshow available by April if technical conversions and scheduling permit. Staff also said they are exploring projector-based displays and potential physical display venues but had no confirmed indoor exhibition locations yet.
