Beardstown council appoints Dustin Looker as public works director, approves consent agenda

Beardstown — The Beardstown City Council met Tuesday, May 20, 2025, approved routine business and made two personnel designations, all by unanimous vote.
Mayor Tim Harris called the meeting to order at 6:18 p.m. City Clerk Katie Vitale recorded a quorum with Alderpersons Lisa Buhlig, Ron Culves, Mary Davis, Eric Harbin, Keith Schramm and Allie Dawson present; Alderpersons Shawn Taylor and Dawn Seward were absent.
A motion by Alderperson Mary Davis, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin, to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the May 6, 2025 meeting and approve them as published passed unanimously by voice vote.
The council then approved the consent agenda, which included routine disbursements for the period ending May 20, 2025. Alderperson Eric Harbin moved to approve the consent agenda; Alderperson Allie Dawson seconded, and the motion passed unanimously by roll call vote under the omnibus designation.
Under the omnibus vote designation, the council approved two appointments. Alderperson Keith Schramm moved, and Alderperson Mary Davis seconded, to appoint Dustin Looker as Beardstown Public Works Director; the appointment passed unanimously by roll call vote. Alderperson Eric Harbin moved, and Alderperson Allie Dawson seconded, to designate Katherine “Katie” Vitale as the city’s IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) authorized agent; that designation also passed unanimously by roll call vote.
Mayor Harris used brief time at the end of the meeting to remind the council that Beardstown City Hall would be closed on Monday for Memorial Day and to note his satisfaction with the recent citywide clean-up effort. On a motion by Alderperson Eric Harbin, seconded by Alderperson Mary Davis, the council adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
