The Chico Unified School District Board of Education on June 25 unanimously approved the district's 2025–26 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), finalizing technical edits requested by county staff.
The plan—required statewide and posted in draft form on the district website since June 11—received no public testimony during the special meeting. A staff member summarized that the recent revisions were technical, intended to align the document with county and state templates, and did not change the plan’s actions or dollar amounts. "The changes are not changing any... what we're doing or how much we're spending," the staff member said, noting late-arriving year-end data were added to the public draft.
Board members discussed adding regular monitoring into meeting agendas. Board president (speaker S1) said she plans to include a monthly superintendent report that highlights the board's three goals and the LCAP metrics so trustees can track progress. The board moved and seconded the LCAP approval and recorded a unanimous vote.
The approved LCAP will proceed to the county and then to the state as required. Staff said they will update the board if any state-level “trailer bills” or budget amendments require later adjustments to district planning or spending.
