The Ascension Parish Planning Commission approved its consent agenda and granted permits for four family partitions during its March 11 meeting, including a variance to narrow a private servitude for one property.
The consent agenda — which included an affidavit of mortgage declaration for a property on Gold Place Road — was approved without opposition.
Earls and Associates representative James presented four family‑partition plats: the Wayne A. Burke property (division so a son may buy the front house while preserving a 20‑foot strip for a sewer discharge); the Edmund J. Lambert/Johnson property (which included a request to narrow a 30‑foot private servitude to 20 feet for a short section between existing buildings); the Tammy Rebo property (donation of a tract to her son, who lives on the property); and the Vivian Villner property (family partition with a 30‑foot private servitude of passage described to be placed on the east side).
Staff told the commission each of the plats met applicable code requirements, and commissioners discussed access and driveway widths where relevant. For the Lambert/Johnson parcel, staff and the applicant said the shared access is existing and the narrowed servitude applies only where constrained between buildings; the commission moved to approve the variance as part of the partition approval.
All four family partitions were approved by voice vote; the meeting record shows commissioners voted in favor and no sustained objections were recorded.
Why it matters: Family partitions and variances change property‑use rights and may affect neighboring access and drainage; the short servitude narrowing granted for the Lambert/Johnson property was approved with the condition that standard plat notes and permitting requirements remain enforceable.
Next steps: Staff will place standard plat notes where required and enforce driveway and servitude upgrade requirements at the building permit stage.
