Board approves consent items, updated policies and Employee Appreciation Day resolution

In open session the board disclosed that, following closed session, it had voted to approve a confidential settlement related to an Office of Administrative Hearings special education case (OAC case number 202503032); the chair reported the closed‑session vote as 4‑2‑0 and said the settlement remains confidential under student‑privacy and settlement law.
On routine business the board moved, seconded and unanimously approved the minutes of the March 13, 2025 regular meeting. The board also approved the second reading of several updated board policies and bylaws presented for action and scheduled a set of additional policies for first reading and future discussion.
Additional actions taken included adoption of resolution 10‑24‑25 designating May 12, 2025 as Employee Appreciation Day and approval of the declaration of need for fully qualified educators for the 2024‑25 and 2025‑26 school years. The board also received the Williams third‑quarter report and was told no Williams complaints were filed during the quarter as required by Education Code section 35186.
The consent agenda was approved by roll call and the chair declared the motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
