During discussion, Board member Sam Toskin said the Finance and Facilities Subcommittee had reviewed the capital priority list and ensured contingency planning for the middle school. Superintendent Matt Dunbar confirmed a letter was sent to the Board of Selectmen requesting approval to repurpose an Advisory Committee on Capital Expenditures (ACCE) account, originally earmarked for a roof, into the Operation Sustainability fund to cover immediate needs such as bathroom and auditorium repairs.
The board approved the FY27 Capital Project Requests as presented (motion passed 9-0-0). Later in the agenda, the board approved Educational Specifications for a partial roof replacement at Suffield High School, authorized submission of a state Building Grant to the Department of Administrative Services to establish a project number and allow engineering and design work for grant reimbursement, appointed the existing Permanent Building Committee as the project’s Building Committee, and asked the Board of Selectmen to authorize application to the DAS commissioner and schematic work. All related motions passed 9-0-0.
