Board approves revised Suffield High School Course Selection Manual after audit of ~190 courses

At its Dec. 15 meeting, the Suffield Board of Education approved revisions to the Suffield High School Course Selection Manual for the 2026–2027 school year following an audit of approximately 190 courses, Principal Anthony Hibbert told the Board.
Hibbert said the audit used Connecticut State Department of Education guidance to check alignment with graduation credit categories and identified 36 courses that required corrections, including several agriscience and STEM-related courses previously misclassified. The revised manual adds an Algebra I Lab, introduces new and revised Career and Technical Education pathways, and changes the structure and offering of certain materials and engineering courses. The manual reflects roughly 180 potential course offerings (excluding alternating-year courses).
Melissa Finnigan moved to approve the Suffield High School Course Selection Manual pending any necessary adjustments; Brian Fry seconded the motion (MOTION #26-29). All board members voted in favor, and the motion passed 8-0-0.
Board members also discussed scheduling research (covered separately) and did not take further action on the course manual beyond approval pending minor adjustments.
