Vineland City Council adopts Juniper Street purchase, advances multiple ordinances and recognizes retirees

At its March 24 meeting, the Vineland City Council adopted Ordinance 2026-13, approving the purchase of 4378 Juniper Street (Block 7304, Lot 19) for $70,000. The motion to move the ordinance to final reading and adopt it passed unanimously on a 5–0 roll call; the clerk was directed to submit the ordinance to the mayor for approval.

Council members also presented and adopted resolutions recognizing several public employees who are retiring effective April 1, 2026, including Jacob Fransco (fire department supervising EMT), Luis Garcia and Kevin Sprague; the council congratulated those retirees and said proclamations would be provided to any not present.

Multiple ordinances were taken up for first reading and scheduled for public hearings on April 14, 2026, including: Ordinance 2026-14 (amending the center city redevelopment plan; public hearing continued to 04/14/2026), Ordinance 2026-15 (classification and compensation plan amendments; first reading), Ordinance 2026-16 (acquisition of 2040 Maple Avenue under NJSA 40:61-1; first reading), Ordinance 2026-17 (amending cannabis-establishment licensing provisions; first reading), Ordinance 2026-18 (amending fire prevention code; first reading), and Ordinance 2026-19 (bond ordinance to improve the water utility, appropriating $3,480,000 and authorizing $1,680,000 in bonds; first reading and public hearing set for 04/14/2026).

The council adopted the consent agenda in a single motion and offered brief closing remarks thanking students and retirees. The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:15 p.m.
