New Providence council approves consent agenda of appointments, budgets and administrative resolutions

The Borough Council voted to approve its consent agenda covering a long list of administrative resolutions, appointments and financial housekeeping items for 2026.

Items read into the record included resolutions appointing class 2 and class 3 special law enforcement officers, authorization of school crossing guard appointments, setting interest rates on delinquent taxes and brief grace periods, cancellation of small tax and permit overpayments, authorization for an annual tax sale and designation of depositories, and temporary budget and cash-management plans for the year. The clerk conducted a roll call and recorded affirmative votes for the consent agenda.

The mayor also announced appointments to boards and committees: planning-board members and alternates, board-of-health members, board-of-adjustment appointments, library trustees, business association representatives and numerous citizen advisory committee appointments such as the diversity committee, mental-health advocacy, sustainability/green team, Safe Routes to School, and a Community Forest committee. The council president later reviewed and assigned liaisons for each council committee.

A separate nomination to the planning board (councilman Kaminski) was made and approved by roll call after a second. The council moved on after completing the reorganization actions and public comment period.

The consent vote and the appointments were described as routine reorganization business; specific supporting documentation and the full list of appointments will be posted on the borough website, according to council staff.
